Japan-China Ferroelectric Symposium 2026
An international forum for ferroelectric materials and their applications
About
The 18th Japan-China Symposium on Ferroelectric Materials and Their Applications (JCFMA18) is an international forum for presenting and discussing research on ferroelectrics and related materials.
Purpose
JCFMA18 aims to broadly bring together research achievements from the East Asia and Oceania regions and to promote multifaceted discussions spanning fundamental science to applied technologies. Through these exchanges, the symposium seeks to further advance the field and accelerate research progress, while also contributing to the development of early-career researchers.
Background and Previous Meetings
Since the first symposium was held in Toyama in 2009, JCFMA has been organized alternately in Japan and China, serving as an important platform for strengthening academic exchange in ferroelectric-related materials research between the two countries.
At the 17th symposium, held in Shimane in 2024, more than 150 participants attended (over 100 from China and about 50 from Japan). Vigorous discussions took place from a wide range of perspectives, from fundamental physics to applications of ferroelectrics and related materials. In addition to presentations focusing on inorganic materials, a special lecture on organic ferroelectrics—aiming to foster collaboration with chemistry—was also featured. The symposium has been highly regarded as a stimulating initiative that accelerates future research directions in the field, and it is now well established as an international forum that brings together cutting-edge dielectric and ferroelectric research from Japan and China.
